What is the UNI EN 1090 certification
The UNI EN 1090 certification is a mandatory certification starting from July 2014 for all producers of structural components in steel and aluminum, as well as for kit manufacturers placed on the market as a construction product. This type of certification is internationally recognized. The ability of a company to produce material that meets all the qualitative characteristics required by the UNI EN 1090 part 1, 2 and 3 standards is certified by a third institution called a certification institution.
The UNI EN 1090 certification concerns the producers of steel or aluminum structures (for example metal structures) which will be obliged from 1 July 2014 to the CE marking according to the UNI EN 1090-1 standard (Execution of steel and aluminum structures).
The certification according to UNI EN 1090 allows the placing on the market of construction products within the EU. On 1 July 2013, the European Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 concerning construction products came into force, introducing new and obligatory requirements for companies operating in the Construction Products market and regulating the conditions for CE marking.
Companies that will be obliged to be certified according to UNI EN 1090 are for example the producers of the following steel or aluminum components:
- products in sections / plates of various shapes
- laminated products (plates, sheets, strips)
- bars, forged from steel and aluminum, protected or not protected against corrosion by coatings or other surface treatments, for example anodizing aluminum
- steel components used in composite steel-concrete structures
Since the structure of BHT includes the processing and welding of steel products, we have been certified EN 1090, so as to be able to sell freely on the Italian and European market.
